Centre for Adoption Support Choir Master receives a NODA award

The Centre for Adoption Support choir master, Rosie Shields has won a coveted NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) award for her recent performance as the Witch in ‘Into the Woods’ performed at The Brindley Theatre, Runcorn.

A recent review from NODA commented on Rosie’s ‘standout performance’:

“Rosie Shields as The Witch, a standout performance from this lady. A great grasp on the role from her very first entrance, she engaged, drew us in and kept us right in the palm of her hand until the very end. This lady has such empathy and character in her vocal, it was such a pleasure to watch this performance. Displaying great ability in her vocal “The Spell is on our house” right through to “Lament” (reprise of stay with me) and “Last Midnight”. Excellent, heartfelt performance”.  Louise Colohan, NODA

The Centre for Adoption Support offers a wide range of support and training services for adoption and permanency and is delivered in partnership with Caritas Care.

Rosie leads the Centre’s choir sharing her vocal training and talents with choir members.  The choir was established in 2016 and grew from 9 to its current 33 members, all of whom are either adopted, have adopted siblings or have parents in the profession.

Anne Fleming, Centre for Adoption Support Service Manager commented: “We are so delighted for Rosie in receiving this prestigious award.  It is very much deserved and we are so lucky to have her as part of our choir”.

One adoptive parent who attends choir with her children commented: “After some friendly introductions and some vocal warm ups led by the fabulous Rosie, we are transformed into popstars within the hour.  You can physically see kids grow in confidence and self-esteem and parents let go and throw themselves into it”
