Caritas committed to Guild

Posted on 7th March 2012 by Matthew Porter

Since the Guild was first mentioned at the end of last year, our charity has been keen to be involved in as many community activities as is reasonably possible.

So it was decided that we should join 9 other charities in the Dragon Boat Race on 21st July at Riversway, that we should have a float in the Community Procession on Friday 7th September and that we should organise a Bike Ride and possibly a walk round the whole or part of the Preston Wheel, the 21 mile trail round Preston.

In addition, our Chief Executive is presenting during a Lenten Series of talks and worship at St John’s Minster in Preston City Centre on 19th March at 7:30pm.

Through these activities we aim to show the charity’s allegiance to its roots in Preston, to acknowledge those Prestonians who went before, joining in previous Preston Guilds and to join with the people of Preston and the many thousands who will visit during the Guild Weeks.

This unique and historic presentation should move us all and make us proud to be part of a celebration which happens every 20 years “once every Preston Guild."
