Jim Cullen celebrates 25 years in charge

The head of a Preston charity has celebrated his 25th year of service in the same year as the organisation's 75th anniversary. Jim Cullen, Chief Executive of Caritas Care, has clocked up a quarter of a century at the charity, which is now one of the longest-established in the region.

He joined staff, trustees and service users to celebrate the landmark at the charity's headquarters in Tulketh Road, Presto

Jim joined Caritas Care, then called Lancaster Diocesan Children's Society, as principal officer for children's services in 1984, bringing with him ten years of social work experience at local authorities in London and Lancashire. He said, "I moved from a very secure, local authority environment to join Caritas Care, which was a much smaller agency back then, compared to what I was used to. However, it was an opportunity to take a lead in family placement work and adoption services in the region, which was something I was extremely interested in, and I've never looked back. I can't believe I've been here for 25 years it seems like I only joined yesterday!" Caritas Care operates across the North West from 15 sites in Lancashire, Cumbria and Greater Manchester.

The charity provides services including adoption and foster care, residential and day care for children, services for people with learning disabilities and community projects.
