Faces of Fostering – Introducing George

George is the #FacesofFostering face for February 2021.

George is a foster carer with his wife Anne Marie for Caritas Care. They have kindly agreed to share their fostering journey as part of the #FacesofFostering campaign for February 2021.

George tells how they decided to become foster carers over ten years ago, and as a result; the differences the foster children have made in their lives. George also shares details of how he and Anne Marie decided to transfer from their Independent Fostering Agency to Caritas Care and the circumstances that prompted them to decide.

Both George and Anne Marie dedicate their lives together to their fostering career; consequently, they have made an enormous difference in many children’s lives. George shares his views on blended parenting and how he helped bring up Anne Marie’s daughters as his own; as George explains, ‘to me, this was fostering!’

George explains the importance of the unique qualities he feels male parenting roles in foster care bring to children; these are the qualities he has acquired in his life whilst bringing up the girls. He also explains the difference he makes as the ‘soft touch’ to children when they play on him, but that’s important too; it’s a role he knows how to do well!
