A Warm Welcome to Phil East as New CEO at Caritas Care
We are delighted to welcome Phil East as our new Chief Executive Officer. His arrival marks an exciting new chapter for the charity as we continue to support children, families and communities across the North West.
Phil joins us from Salford Foundation, where he has spent more than sixteen years and served as CEO for the past seven. During this time, he led a wide range of projects focused on tackling disadvantage and helping people to overcome barriers so they can live their best lives.
With a strong background in the voluntary and community sector, Phil began his career as a Youth and Community Worker and has remained committed to supporting people to overcome challenges and reach their potential throughout his career.
Phil said, “I’m thrilled to have been appointed as the next CEO of Caritas Care. The work the charity does every day is truly inspirational and I feel hugely privileged to be joining such a dedicated team. I’m excited to play my part in supporting Caritas Care’s important work in the years ahead.”
Although Salford Foundation and Caritas Care deliver different services, Phil recognises a strong shared purpose in helping people to thrive, a commitment that has driven his career.
Outside of work, Phil is actively involved in his local community, including his local Methodist Church and a Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association in a highly deprived area. He is also a Trustee of The Lowry in Salford Quays and has taken a keen interest in arts and culture.
As we welcome Phil and new beginnings at Caritas Care, it’s also with heavy hearts that we say a fond farewell to Susan Swarbrick. Susan, who leaves to start her retirement later this month, has been at the helm for the past six years and has worked for the charity for over 26 years in various roles, from Fostering Manager to Head of Children’s Services. Her leadership, dedication and passion have left a lasting mark on Caritas Care and she will be greatly missed.
