The creation of the NHS, though controversial at the time, revolutionised healthcare, offering free services to everyone. Childhood illnesses such as diphtheria, whooping cough and later measles were addressed through mass vaccination programmes. The introduction of the Welfare State made adoption and small group homes more accessible for children who could not live with their families. The Charity embraced these changes and adapted its work to fit the new landscape.
