April 1986 to March 1987 was a period of significant change in social care for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lancaster. In June 1986, Bishop John Brewer shared his vision to unite the Lancaster Diocesan Catholic Children’s Society, Diocesan Pastoral Services, and other care groups. In October 1987 the Charity changed its name to Catholic Caring Services to Children and Community (Diocese of Lancaster) Limited. The Charity’s new name highlighted its mission to care for others, especially children and young people, regardless of religion.
