‘With Caritas Care, I know the support is there; I know if I need anything at all, then Colette, my social worker, is always there for me. I feel that I bring Caritas Care my experience in caring for children in residential care. Most of these children have a degree of additional needs and are of different ages; however, I have my youth. Sometimes, you really do need this on your side’.

‘My social worker, Colette, lifts me and makes me feel secure. I feel empowered by her as my Supervising Social Worker. We work cohesively to ensure we get it right for these young people. Colette gives me pep talks to keep me going and brings me her strength and her professional perspective; we have faith in each other. Sometimes people can get set in their ways, but we think about things differently. We are always forward-thinking and always learning new ways to care for children.’

‘This forward-thinking reflects in the activities we have with the children, my partner and I are younger, and this reflects too. We aim to make the time young people spend with us as engaging and as enjoyable as possible, so they go home happy; this is essential. Respite carers provide a much-needed break for many foster carers and their children; it has to be a positive experience for everyone. ‘

‘Caritas Care are great; they are respectful of their foster carers diversity. We are of all ages, and I admire the older foster carers who have been fostering children for a long time. I want to be doing it up until I retire, and maybe even after!’
